About

This site is a collection of ideas, concepts, prose, and the occasional advice and grievances. I’m an undergraduate at Princeton University studying Computer Science. My interests include math, physics, design, and of course programming.

Hey! I find your site really interesting and enjoy reading it. ^_^
I’m actually thinking about taking CS in University next year and I was wondering whether there are any books that you would recommend to me that would be useful.
By the way, what programming language have you learnt?
I’m studying Computing for A-Levels and have learnt Visual Basics and currently learning Java at the moment. πŸ™‚

Hey! Glad to see that you’re enjoying my blog! There are tons and tons of books which are awesome reads on any subject in CS. As far as textbooks go, I’m a huge fan of CLRS (big light blue book with red leaves) and Knuth’s classic AoCP series. I’m interested in theory, so I enjoyed reading Sipser’s Theory of Computation. As far as introductory texts, Sedgewick’s Algorithms are not too difficult to handle but cover a really, really wide variety of different applications of CS theory. There are many famous texts in many subfields as well. It really depends on what you enjoy in computer science, which is something you will refine over time. So far I’m pretty comfortable with Java, C/C++, Python and a few others. Java is a nice language to start learning with. Once you master that, you’ll have learnt a great deal about OOP as well as how programming languages generally work.

    Hey!

I wanted to let you know that I’m digging your website. As a Mathematics major from the Chicago-land area, and a hardcore Computer Science enthusiast, I find a lot of the things that you write about to be identifiable. I am currently following your BitBucket project, Tasky, and wanted to let you know that I would love to work on it with you!

Please shoot me an e-mail or add me on Google Chat at labeledloser at gmail dot com (you ought to know what I chose to write down my e-mail address like that).

Hope to hear back from you soon!
